Capital Campaign Goal Announcement and Celebration
New York, New York. April, 1996. Client: Villanova University.
The university celebrated its $100,000,000 plateau with a black tie dinner at Radio City Music Hall. A cocktail reception in the art deco foyer was followed by a five-minute tour into the darkened theater, at which time the curtain was raised and the stage revealed --- with 45 tables set for dinner. This was the first time a dinner had ever been produced on the stage of Radio City. The evening was highlighted by surprise student involvement at all levels, including a laser finale into the empty theater that was accompanied by a 100-voice choir and 100-member concert band. The choir and band were actually placed on the rear of the stage with a 200-foot curtain raised at the appropriate moment to reveal the assembled masses to the guests.

The final stretch of the a four-year capital campaign for the school was highlighted by an invitation-only formal affair honoring the founding dean of the school on his 90th birthday. The occasion was marked by a multi-media tribute to the dean and the school. Client asked that the venue for the event be at the law school, and since there was no open space to accommodate the 250 guests we carved out an innovative seating pattern in the mock court classroom. Dramatic lighting and elegant decor devices created the formal atmosphere for the evening.
