Beaux Arts Ball
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. October, 2003. Client: American Institute of Architects
The annual event was held at the Seaplane Hangar in the Philadelphia Navy Yard, a vacant building that was last occupied ten years ago. The 100,000 square foot cavernous space was transformed into an event space to host 2,500 guests in three different areas, all of which utilized extensive special effect and theatrical lighting, a dynamic sound system, and fourteen video screens with both live and computer generated images of the event. Special salons were fabricated to house corporate sponsors on the perimeter of the main performance space, each capable of hosting ten guests in an intimate "living room" setting while still a part of the larger activity. The event raised funds and awareness for the non profit organization and served as the primary gala for the architectural community.
Willard G. Rouse III Memorial Service

An emotional service was planned in memory of famed developer Willard Rouse at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Participating in the dramatic ceremony was the Governor and First Lady of Pennsylvania, the Mayor of Philadelphia, Mr. Rouse's family - - including actor Edward Norton, members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and a 90-voice gospel choir. We produced a special video tribute that served as the basis for all broadcast over the next two days of the event by eight television stations.
National Museum of American Jewish History Gala

A black tie gala at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts honored philanthropist Sidney Kimmel while announcing the plans for a new museum on Independence Mall. As part of the evening a cocktail reception was held in the lobby, followed by a 45-minute program in the performance hall, which consisted of pianist Peter Nero, and a surprise guest appearance by former President Bill Clinton. After the program, guests moved back into the lobby where a full-dinner service was set up with 60 dinner rounds and a stage and dance floor for late evening entertainment.
Walter H. Annenberg Memorial Service

An invited audience of 1,000 guests attended a 90-minute tribute to the late Ambassador at the Academy of Music. As part of the tribute The Philadelphia Orchestra performed four pieces, including several elements with diva Frederica von Stade. We scheduled 18 speakers to be placed into the time frame, including such luminaries as President Gerald Ford, Barbara Bush, Nancy Reagan, Colin Powell, Barbara Walters, William Gray and Ed Rendell. A private luncheon for 600 guests, including Mayor Bloomberg and UN Ambassador John Negroponte, was held after the service.
Finale Events of Mobile 300th Anniversary

A series of events over a seven-day period was produced, including the outdoor screening of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, filmed in Mobile 25 years prior; a birthday party with 10,000 slices of cake and 10 hours of performance capped by the largest fireworks display in the history of the city; and numerous civic, cultural and social events.
Sail Mobile

One of the cornerstone events of the year-long 300th anniversary, this event saw 29 ships parade up the Mobile River before an audience of over 75,000 citizens and tourists. The parade was followed by an evening concert and fireworks on July 4th and a three day festival and public touring of tall ships, including four foreign flag vessels. Over 110,000 people visited the festival site, and the event has been called by the Mayor of Mobile the most successful event in the history of the city.
TAPPI National Conference Event

Corporate hospitality was displayed in a most creative fashion on behalf of Dow as their clients were treated to an evening under the stars and with the stars. Guests were taken to a surprise location . . . the back lot of Universal Studios . . . where a reception was held outside the studio. Guests then walked to a replica of a New York street in Little Italy where they dined under the stars in the street! Following a performance on a patio of one of the rowhouses by the Blues Brothers, our guests paraded to Hollywood and Vine where dessert and dancing continued.
Commemoration of Mobile 300th Anniversary

The year-long celebration began with a historic re-enactment at the site of the founding of the city, with the Mayor officiating. Since the site was located on the grounds of a chemical plant, elaborate security arrangements had to made to handle the crowds in attendance. In addition to the ceremonies at this site a full weekend of activities were implemented, including a black-tie gala screening of a documentary to be aired on the NBC affiliate. The screening was heralded by an outdoor cocktail reception and post-screening dessert reception hosted by Forrest Gump author Winston Groom. There will be a series of events produced throughout the year.
75th Anniversary of The Benjamin Franklin Bridge

Over 60,000 spectators walked across this historic bridge to re-create the grand opening day. Thirty six entertainment acts performed along the mile and a half span, beginning with a sunrise coffee and concluding with a ceremony that included dignitaries, performance and a flyover of three bi-planes, replicating the original ceremony of 1926.
Centennial Gala of Temple University Medical School

Over 500 guests attended a black tie gala at the Loews Hotel in honor of the 100th anniversary. Seven cocktail receptions were held throughout the hotel, followed by a program and dancing in the ballroom.
25th Anniversary of National Museum of American Jewish History

Some 700 guests paid tribute to the museum at a formal event in the Park Hyatt, which included an extensive five-buffet cocktail, reception in the basement of the property, followed by a ceremony and dinner in the ballroom. Guest speaker Senator Joseph Lieberman was introduced by a special video featuring his mother and Larry King.
Groundbreaking Ceremony for National Constitution Center

The President of the United States, 75 new citizens from 24 foreign countries, two federal judges, two mayors, two Senators and one Congressman were part of the stage complement for this outdoor event on Independence Mall to herald the construction of the country's newest museum. A customized 16' x 40' photographic backdrop of the building was installed on the 48' stage to provide a perspective for the 2,000 guests in the audience. Named as a Alaying the foundation@ event, the President was the last person to sign a 12' steel beam that, on his signal, was lifted by a giant crane into place at the entranceway to the edifice.
OpSail Philadelphia 2000

We produced the arrival of 21 tall ships to the Port of Philadelphia, featuring three berthing sites in Pennsylvania and New Jersey that entertained one million visitors over a six-day period. We were responsible for soliciting the vessels, handling all logistics for the ships and their crew, scheduling and producing 32 social and cultural events, as well as advising and planning for three diverse locations of public visitation. In addition, we managed the public relations, sponsorship and administration of this $2.5 million budgeted event.
Philadelphia Orchestra Centennial Finale Event

We produced a free outdoor concert of the orchestra in Rittenhouse Square that featured the entire symphony in a one hour performance led by Andre Smith. An audience of some 4,000 residents were treated to this historic event. This was the concluding event of the orchestra's year-long centennial observance, which we coordinated.
Curtis Institute of Music 75th Anniversary Finale

A special commencement, alumni weekend and tribute gala culminated a year of activity. The tribute at the gala featured a video retrospective of the history of the institution, several awards presentations and a performance of Peter Schickle and PDQ Bach.
Bryant College Technology Center Groundbreaking
Smithfield, Rhode Island. April, 2000. Client: Bryant College.
A high-tech groundbreaking was produced with 1,000 guests in attendance to witness the unveiling of the design for the modern campus of this business oriented college. After the ceremony guests were treated to a reception that was staged amidst a myriad of blueprints superimposed on decorated scaffolding with theatrical lighting and water fountains. A formal dinner was held after the reception in tribute to the donor of the center.
Tribute to Unisys CEO

Lawrence Weinbach was honored at Drexel University's prestigious business school ceremony held at the Park Hyatt ballroom before a gathering of 500 corporate guests. Included in the program were three video presentations and placement of fifteen life-size mannequins with computer-monitor-heads as centerpieces, similar to the Unisys ad campaign, from which a laser show emanated as part of the finale.
Anti-Defamation League Tribute

Corporate citizen Ed Snider was honored for his contributions to the mission of achieving tolerance in society, attended by 1,000 of his colleagues at the Marriott. A concise, yet dramatic program was implemented to show the accomplishments of the organization as well as the contribution of Mr. Snider.
Inauguration of the President of La Salle University

The sports arena of this liberal arts institution was transformed into an elegant ceremonial hall with 3,000 guests in attendance to witness a formal investiture, highlighted by a video tribute to the founder of the school, live music, a procession across the campus and a reception for all guests under a tent following the ceremony.
40th Anniversary of Annenberg School for Communication
Dedication of the Annenberg Public Policy Center

An all-day series of events showcased the 40th anniversary of the renown school, with Ambassador Walter Annenberg in attendance for the dedication in early afternoon, a luncheon with broadcaster Tom Brokaw as keynote speaker, numerous break-0iout sessions ion late afternoon and a closing dinner tribute to the Annenbergs under a huge tent featuring video accolades from heads of state; as well as a presentation of an anniversary cake that replicated the original cake form the Annenberg wedding over 40 years ago.
75th Anniversary of Curtis Institute of Music

Three events were scheduled to kick-off the anniversary: a public music festival featuring 75 musicians on five stage in Rittenhouse Square; a convocation at which was presented awards to opera diva Anna Moffo and conductor Slava Rostropovich; and a tribute dinner, which inaugurated a $35 million capital campaign.
Institute of Contemporary Art Gala

The acclaimed Institute on the Penn campus held its annual black tie gala in the galleries with a room transformed into a French garden setting. A special presentation to philanthropist Edna Tuttleman highlighted the evening.
American Poetry Review 25th Anniversary

A six-person roundtable discussion and reading commemorated the silver anniversary of this national publication. Some of the world's greatest poets participated in the three hour event, attended by some 650 avid guests.
Regional Performing Arts Center Kids' Day

A celebration involving 40 schools from the Delaware Valley region culminated in the reveal of a 300-foot long eight-foot high construction fence custom designed by the schools. The artwork was then placed on display for the next two years while construction continues.
Power Team National Celebration

A formal celebration of a four-year completion of this utility broker's initial buying phase featured an elaborate dinner, four performances by unusual costumed characters, a video laser projector that magnified images across the walls and on the ceiling, and a live performance by country western star John Berry highlighted the evening.
Ernst & Young Year-end Event
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. December, 1998. Client: Ernst & Young LLP.
Over 1,000 guests attended a holiday function at the Pennsylvania Convention Center that featured a thematic of Cirque de Casino. Some 46 gaming tables and locations were set up, along with a stage featuring a dance band, video karaoke and roving magicians and other entertainers. Six huge buffet stations were arranged in the room, with guests actually unknowingly walking past all of the set-up on their way to cocktails prior to the unveiling of the event. This was accomplished through lighting, as opposed to a physical barrier.
40th Anniversary of Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation

Eight hundred guests attended this high profile event in the Train Shed of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Two video presentations highlighted the accomplishments of the oldest quasi-public development organization in the country.
Demolition Ceremony
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. September, 1998. Client: Regional Performing Arts Center.
Demolition began three weeks prior to the official groundbreaking of this cultural arts hall, beginning with a press event that featured an 80' crane carrying a cello in its bucket. On cue, spectators listened to a recording of the Anvil Chorus over an outdoor sound system as the crane struck the 80-year-old brick building on the site. As the crane hit the bricks fireworks came out of the 10 windows facing the street. The bucket was then lowered to the ground where construction workers unwrapped the cello and presented it to a cellist from the Philadelphia Orchestra, who performed a sonata before demolition continued.
25th Anniversary of Best of Philadelphia Magazine

An outdoor food and entertainment festival for 2,000 guests highlighted this commemoration, which featured 45 restaurant booths and a two hour concert headlined by The Bacon Brothers.
ETS 50th Anniversary Convocation

Over 2,200 guests attended a three hour event that featured an academic convocation, a 75 piece band, the Harlem Boys Choir and a keynote address by broadcaster Tom Brokaw. Extensive staging and lighting was used to dramatize the venue, a huge tennis recreation center on the campus of the College of New Jersey. Video presentations, image magnification and a 50' customized stage rounded out the elements used to produce this event.
Unveiling of the Regional Performing Arts Center

The design of this facility was unveiled in three separate programs over an eight-hour period. Four three-dimensional architectural models were revealed, enhanced by extensive audio-visuals effects. An opening video presentation was produced to set the stage for the reveal.
Dow Chemical Corporate Event
New Orleans, Louisiana. April, 1998, Client: Dow Chemical Company.
A 400-person formal dining experience was produced at the Sheraton New Orleans, with famed chefs Paul Prodhomme, Susan Spicer, Dick Brennan and Mike Rousell each preparing a course in front of the audience, with that course then served by the hotel staff. Each of the tempting courses was accompanied by a different genre of New Orleans music. A dessert of Bananas Foster was finished with the lighting of a match as the ballroom lights dimmed and a ten minute fireworks finale was set off from a barge on the Mississippi, closing with the entire ballroom surrounded by pyrotechnics.
Hear, O Israel Event

We were executive producers of a sold-out 18,880 capacity concert featuring the Israel Philharmonic and Philadelphia Orchestras, performing together for the first time ever. Held at the CoreStates Center, the event showcased soloists Kathleen Battle, Sarah Chang, Tony Bennett and dramatic readings by Richard Dreyfuss, Leonard Nimoy and Jerry Orbach. A three hundred voice choir complemented the orchestras. A live satellite feed from Israel resulted in a dialogue with Morley Safer from Philadelphia and the Commerce Minister of the State of Israel from overseas. Following the concert finale, the entire stage area was transformed into a black tie gala venue for 2,300 guests, including all the performers.
Comcast SportsNet Inaugural Events

Three hundred guests attend a twilight launch of the newest sports network in the country, held at the CoreStates Center. A special stage was highlighted by the network logo in large letters with a five-foot universal remote control as a centerpiece. Following brief remarks, network officials gathered around the remote control to press the buttons. On cue, the buttons were depressed and a stream of pyrotechnics burst from the end of the remote towards the video wall as the screening of a promotional video was shown.
Eagles Youth Carnival

The third annual event on the playing field of Veterans Stadium saw 10,000 people participate in a four-hour charitable event that raised over $400,000.00. Over 24 locations were placed for interaction with the public.
Best of Philly'97

Held for the second year in a row at the CoreStates Center, we were asked to plan and implement an event that had 2,500 guests and 60 restaurants participate in the annual program. Since the previous year's event at the same venue had logistical problems, we were brought in to solve the problems and restore the program to its positive results, which was accomplished.
CoreStates Bike Race

Now in its 13th year, the Bike Race in Philadelphia had corporate hospitality consisting of 10,000 bank employees, 8,000 corporate clients and numerous private corporate events during and before the race. We coordinated all aspects of the hospitality, as well as serving as overseer and troubleshooters for the entire event program.
Edison Electric Institute Opening Session

We produced a one-hour presentation to 2,000 utility executives that included performance by a Mummers String Band, a seven-minute video, Ben Franklin, the chairman of PECO Energy, the Governor of Pennsylvania, the Mayor of Philadelphia and the reveal of an 80-voice choir.
Dow Chemical Client Gala

The highlight of an international paper-coating conference was a 300-person invitation only event sponsored by Dow Chemical that included cocktails, an opening dinner sequence that featured an indoor thunderstorm and an appearance by our master of ceremonies, Ben Franklin; two performance acts in between courses and a finale that included a customized laser show and a performance by Andrea McArdle, her daughter and brother.
Arthur Ashe Youth Gala

Over 600 guests attended this annual event, which this year included a four-minute video. Three times during the video there was a pause as the screen went to black and a single spotlight isolated a live speaker who dramatically drove home the tennis program story. The video concluded with brief remarks from Mr. Ashe, filmed weeks before his death.
Big East Playoff Rally
New York, New York. March, 1997. Client: Villanova University.
A 200-person reception was produced at The Plaza Hotel, with 16 video monitors showing Villanova basketball team highlights, as well as live image-magnification of an award presentation. Decor included a 12-foot high hardwood floor mounted vertically to serve as a backdrop for the stage.
Ernst & Young Year-end Event
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. December, 1996 Client: Ernst & Young.
For its third successive year-end gathering of staff, the accounting company held its event at The Franklin Institute, where we re-created a Hollywood sound stage and actually involved the 900 guests in a scene from the filming of Phantom of the Opera. The phantom rapelled down an 80' rope and dashed onto the stage, with the senior partner of E&Y taking the place of the phantom actor and revealing his identity on stage as he took off his mask and cape. Dancing, dining and movie-making went on throughout the five hour event, with guests taking home videotapes of their film debuts.
Eagles Youth Carnival

A five hour charitable carnival was held on the field of Veterans Stadium with over 7,000 guests in attendance. Games, rides and dozens of photograph/autograph stations were set up featuring the entire football team and coaching staff of the Philadelphia Eagles. Also on site was a live radio show and auction.
Inauguration of the President of Bryant College
Providence, Rhode Island. September, 1996. Client: Bryant College.
A full weekend of concerts, ceremonies and festivities marked the inauguration, highlighted by a tended afternoon ceremony that included a high tech video monitor display; an evening concert in the same tent with the U.S. Navy Band performing; and five luncheons and dinners spread out on campus for the guests in attendance.
Olympic Torch Ceremony

The arrival of the torch to the city was heralded by a large outdoor event at the steps of the Museum of Art a.k.a. AThe Rocky Steps.@ Over 25,000 spectators turned out for the five hour program, featuring over 1,000 performers, 200 athletes, celebrities from all walks of life, special effect lighting and a finale laser show, all broadcast live on the NBC affiliate.
Inauguration of the President of Drexel University
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. May, 1996. Client: Drexel University.
The eleventh president of Drexel was sworn in at a prestigious ceremony before 1, 500 guests in a transformed gymnasium on campus. The ceremony featured a stage with 40 VIPs, 60 band members and 100 choir members. Two large format projection screens were inset into a large stage set with specialized lighting configured to change the emotion of the room throughout the ceremony. Two additional events took place during the inaugural program, including a student concert and a formal dinner in the 104-year-old main building of the university complete with six different musical acts, computerized water fountains and additional special effects.
ENIAC 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner

The commemoration of the first computer was noted by a dinner for 1,200 corporate and academic representatives following the ceremonial switching on of the original computer called ENIAC by Vice President Al Gore. The dinner consisted of a keynote address punctuated with numerous audio-visual elements, including a finale that was totally computer-generated--involving computer animated art, computerized lighting, lasers and a synthesized music track. A centerpiece of the dinner was the unveiling of a commemorative postage stamp on behalf of the US Postal Service, accomplished with computer animation and lasers.
Ernst & Young Year-end Event
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. December, 1995 Client: Ernst & Young.
Some 1,000 guests attended a formal year-end affair for the public accounting company at The Philadelphia Marriott, featuring a laser show, live band, virtual reality, numerous live actors in thematic costume, and a surprise reveal of an elaborate dinner buffet. The one-time event was so successful that the senior partners have already move ahead with plans for one in 1996.
Retirement Tribute to Ray Mundt
West Chester, Pennsylvania. June, 1995. Client: Alco Standard Corporation.
Some 400 friends and colleagues of the retiring chairman of Alco Standard were treated to the event of a lifetime on a 40 acre estate, that included a progressive dinner through the site and a finale that was situated in a clear-top tent overlooking a lake. During dinner extensive audio-visual presentation were made in the estate's barn, which had been transformed into a hunting lodge. The finale included an outdoor sound and light show, computerized water fountains, lasers and pyrotechnics.
National Night Out

This annual event features 2,800 communities around the world in localized programs all held on the same night to foster interaction among neighbors. A national press event is held each year, featuring such participants as President George Bush, the director of the F.B.I. and the U.S. Attorney General. A block party for 2,000 community representatives and a sampling of 40 police departments is also held to herald the event.
The Galaxy Ball

The 1,200 person formal event is an annual fund-raising gala on behalf of the foremost science museum in the country. A thematic involvement in decor, programming, entertainment and all other aspects of the evening was based upon one of the museum's offerings. Live entertainment, special effect lighting, laser displays and unique table decor resulted in a heightened awareness of the institution's exhibits and programs.
Independence Day Ceremony

The City's traditional Fourth of July celebration is highlighted by a ceremony in front of Independence Hall, featuring the actual awarding of the Liberty Medal to President de Klerk and Mr. Mandela by President Bill Clinton. Over 15,000 persons witnessed the ceremony live, which was also broadcast in its entirety on two local stations, one national networks and covered by over 450 press people in attendance.
Central Jersey Bank Marketing Campaign
New Brunswick and Freehold, New Jersey. June, 1993, 1992, 1991. Client: Central Jersey Bank.
Series of recognition events for a scholarship program set up for 30,000 elementary school pupils who will graduate in the "Class of 2000" from high school. The events saw students, parents, teachers and corporate officials from a six county central New Jersey region gather for dinner and a ceremony consisting of futuristic lighting and acoustic techniques, as well as specialized entertainment for all audience demographics.
World Cup USA 1994 Mascot Unveiling and Press Conference.

The world-wide marketing campaign for the 1994 World Cup Games was launched at a press conference attended by over 250 media and marketing representatives. The unveiling of the Games' mascot was achieved through a special laser production, along with live actors and celebrities such as Pele.
Drexel University Centennial

A multi-faceted year-long celebration commemorating the founding and history of this urban university. Over a score of programs including academic symposia, festive events, concerts, corporate meetings and publicity stunts are planned to highlight the campus to its various publics.
Philadelphia Flower Show

250th Anniversary of University of Pennsylvania

A series of events were produced over three time periods in l990 to emphasize all facets of the school community. Included in the programs were three plenary sessions featuring such speakers as President Reagan, a colloquium featuring Ted Koppel and broadcast on PBS, seven social events ranging from an international food festival for 6,000 persons to a concert featuring Bill Cosby, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks.
University of Pennsylvania Winter Holiday Festival
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. December, 1990 and 1991. Client: University of Pennsylvania.
This activity spanned a seven-hour period and was attended by some 7,000 guests. The outdoor function had strolling entertainment, free refreshments, various craft demonstrations, a holiday craft fair, and featured three performances of a sound and light show, complete with dancing water fountains.
U.S. Committee for UNICEF Benefit Concert Series

A concert series featuring Audrey Hepburn and the New World Symphony, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, was produced as a development and awareness model for UNICEF. The world premiere of a musical composition by Tilson Thomas was held in Philadelphia with a black-tie gala following the concert.
Comcast Cable Credo/Logo Launch

A 90-minute multi-faceted meeting at the First Union Center was attended by some 4,000 employees of this cable company, the purpose of which was to reveal a new mission statement for the organization, as well as a new graphic symbol. Included in the session were numerous prepared remarks, several video clips and the actual reveal of the logo via video, pyrotechnics and oversized banner. Two large rear-projection screens were flown, as was a customized sound system to complement the specially-constructed stage set. Theatrical lighting and a closing performance by singers McFadden and Whitehead capped the meeting.
Comcast Metrophone Product Launch

The unveiling of a new digital phone system was accomplished through two events - - one for high echelon corporate clients and the second for employees of the cellular phone company. The corporate event at the Marriott Hotel saw the ballroom transformed into a supper club, complete with 75 half-round tables facing a large stage. On cue, the president of the company was introduced and a video was screened, accompanied by a laser show, which concluded with a curtain opening to reveal George Benson in concert. The five-hour employee event five days later occurred in a suburban Philadelphia performing arts center, punctuated by a live dance band, food throughout the indoor-outdoor site and a special ceremony in the theater.
America OnLine Product Launch

During the nationally televised Monday night football game from Veterans Stadium, the computer Internet provider launched its new Digital City component with a tailgate party for 3,000 guests. Two video walls, refreshments, 50 on-site computers for hands-on sampling, and live entertainment served as a backdrop for an announcement by the president of the company.
